About the Program

The Pickering Skating Club is happy to provide Durham region with a unique skating skills program designed specifically to give experienced hockey players an edge. Skaters must have proficient skating experience including the ability to skate forward, backwards and stop.

Skaters learn the same skating skills taught to Skate Canada graduates Matt Duchene of the NHL Colorado Avalanche & Olympic hockey team gold medalist, and Jeff Skinner of the NHL Carolina Hurricanes & NHL Rookie of the Year.

Skating sessions focus on advancing over all skating skills including forward stride, backwards edge control, agility, turns and conditioning.

Full hockey equipment and stick are required including a CSA-approved hockey helmet with a cage or visor, pants, gloves, sweater, etc.
